In the near future, industrial crystals will be produced in ultra-high efficiency continuous-growth systems. These systems will grow mono-crystalline materials at pull speeds 20 to 30% faster than today's standards, with tighter electrical tolerances and fewer defects. Electrical consumption will be dramatically reduced through improved thermal insulation, optimized furnace tank cooling, and better utilization of crystal growth run time.
Energy and resource utilization will be maximized by producing crystals at or near the final product dimensions. Recharge systems will accept wide-ranging source materials, including large chunks and rods. Zone refinement techniques will be incorporated into the feeder design to purify and pre-melt feedstock before dispensing it into the growth system at precision-controlled feed rates.
Fickett Consulting is actively developing technology to make all of this possible.
